Equality Bill
This important piece of legislation is about to come back before Parliament and potentially affects all gender variant people.
Discrimination continues against gender variant people across all sectors of society, both within employment, socially and in
the media - where gender variant people seem to be viewed as the "soft target".
Gender Spectrum UK has concerns that the Government is not listening to issues raised by gender variant people and those who
support them within Parliament, ignoring the likelihood that the European Union will strengthen anti-discrimination legislation requirements along
the lines suggested sometime in 2010.

Identity Issues
Gender variant people often have a particular set of requirements regarding confidentiality around their identity.
The Government has issued some clarification over the issue of ID cards to gender variant people, but there remains some concern that the Identity
and Passport Service has not fully understood the issues that have been raised.
The Gender Recognition Act 2004 has undoubtably bought benefits for those who are able to comply with the requirements, but several groups of
transitioned people still fall outside the Act - those who are unwilling to dissolve happy, loving marriages; those who do not have a psychiatric diagnosis but
transitioned many years ago.

Health-care Provision
Many gender variant people seek some level of medical care, whether psychiatric, psychological or surgical.
It appears that many people who seek treatment from specialist centres are having to wait long periods for funding to be approved,
despite Government targets limiting waiting times and legal precedent that medical care must not be withheld.
Additionally, some people who have referrals from qualified psychiatrists for surgery are having those referrals discounted by the surgeons.
Gender Spectrum UK is interested in your experiences and views.
